Secretary-General hopes Azerbaijan to soon join BSEC Permit System
Secretary General of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) Lazar Comanescu hopes that Azerbaijan will soon join the BSEC Permit System.
“The BSEC Permit System is designed to facilitate border crossing procedures. So far, 9 out of 13 BSEC member states have joined this system. We are working on its further expansion, as well as digitalisation. We hope that Azerbaijan will soon join this system,” Comanescu said in an interview with Report.
The BSEC Permit is a single document designated for the international transit of road transport of goods and / or bilateral road transport through territories or to / from the following states: the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Armenia, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Türkiye and Ukraine. Third country transport operations are allowed to be carried out by road transport operators from the Republic of Albania, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of North Macedonia, Romania and Ukraine as participating countries to the project which agreed upon such transport operations.
The BSEC came into existence as a unique and promising model of multilateral political and economic initiative with the signing of the Istanbul Summit Declaration and the Bosphorus Statement by the Heads of State and Government of the countries in the region, on June 25, 1992.
Agriculture and agro-industry, banking and finance, combating organised crime, culture, customs matters, education, emergency assistance, energy, environmental protection, exchange of statistical data and economic information, healthcare and pharmaceutics, information and communication technologies, institutional renewal and good governance, science and technology, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), tourism, trade and economic development and transport are among the main fields of cooperation within the framework of the Organisation.
