Secretary General of Inter-Parliamentary Union visits Azerbaijan’s Aghdam PHOTO

Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, visited Aghdam on February 2.

The Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union was accompanied by Azerbaijani MP, co-chair of the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee Javanshir Feyziyev, permanent representative of Azerbaijan to the UN Geneva office and other international organisations Galib Israfilov and other officials, the Press and PR department of the Azerbaijani parliament told Azertac.

Chungong was informed about the atrocities and acts of vandalism committed by the Armenian armed forces in Aghdam, the destruction of national cultural, historical and religious monuments, as well as the ongoing construction after the liberation of the city from occupation.

The guests viewed buildings destroyed by Armenians in Aghdam, including the ruins of the Aghdam Drama Theatre, as well as Armenian barbarity in the Alley of Martyrs. They were informed that the Armenian vandals also destroyed local graves.

Then Chungong viewed the ongoing construction in accordance with the master plan of Aghdam city, including repair and restoration work in the Imarat complex, where the palace of the founder of the Karabakh Khanate Panah Ali Khan is located, as well as in the Juma Mosque. The guest was informed that Aghdam, turned by the Armenian invaders into the “Hiroshima of the Caucasus” will be completely restored in the coming years and will become one of the most beautiful cities in the region. Afterwards, the internally displaced people will return to these lands.
