Senior defense officials hold talks with Turkish military delegation
A Turkish delegation consisting of several defense officials that is led by Lieutenant General Tuncay Altug has paid visits to multiple branches of the Azerbaijani army on December 18.
They were welcomed by Azerbaijani Deputy Defense Minister Hikmat Mirzayev, Caliber.Az reports citing the ministry’s press service.
Colonel General Hikmet Mirzayev, who is also the Commander of the country’s Land Forces, presented the visitors with details on the unit’s operations as well as ongoing reforms in the Azerbaijani army. He highlighted the significant role of Azerbaijani-Turkish military cooperation in shaping and advancing Azerbaijan’s Land Forces, touching upon the progress that has been achieved in adapting Azerbaijan’s military structure to the Turkish model.
The visiting defense officials also visited the central command post of the Air Force, where they were greeted by the Deputy Defense Minister commanding the Air Force, Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade.
Additionally, the Turkish delegation met with Acting Commander of the Navy, Captain First Rank Shahin Mammadov, during their visit to the naval base. The delegation was briefed on the base's activities and the successes of Azerbaijani and Turkish naval personnel in international exercises.
Discussions during these meetings emphasized the importance of joint military exercises and other topics of mutual interest, underscoring the strong military ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye.
