Azerbaijani, UAE energy companies explore joint opportunities in oil, gas sector
SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf has met with Hussain Lootah, Member of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of the UAE-based ENOC Group, to discuss deepening collaboration between the two energy companies.
According to SOCAR, the discussions focused on strengthening ties following a memorandum of understanding signed in November between SOCAR and Dragon Oil, which the parties said was a key step towards expanding bilateral relations.
Najaf and Lootah also explored potential cooperation across multiple segments of the energy sector, including exploration, production, trading, marketing, and digitalisation, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
The State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is Azerbaijan’s national oil and gas corporation, established in 1992 to manage the country’s hydrocarbon resources. It operates across the entire energy value chain, including exploration, production, processing, transportation and marketing of oil, natural gas and petrochemical products at home and abroad.
Headquartered in Baku, SOCAR plays a central role in Azerbaijan’s energy security and economy. It supplies domestic fuel and gas needs and exports oil and gas to international markets through major pipeline networks such as the South Caucasus Pipeline and the Trans‑Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline.
Internationally, SOCAR has expanded its footprint with representative offices in over a dozen countries and subsidiaries or assets in Europe and Asia, strengthening its presence in refining, logistics and trading. The company is also involved in strategic partnerships and energy projects aimed at boosting cooperation and energy ties with global partners.
Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) is a government-owned UAE energy group, operating across the full oil and gas value chain. Established in 1993, the company has played a key role in Dubai’s economic diversification and sustainable development.
The ENOC Group includes over 30 subsidiaries engaged in refining, lubricant blending, storage, aviation, and retail. It serves thousands of customers across 60 markets and employs more than 9,000 staff, leveraging advanced technologies and global best practices to support the UAE’s social and economic growth.
