Sochi-Trabzon ferry ship to set sail after nine-year hiatus
Erkut Celebi, head of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, has said that ferry traffic across the Black Sea on the Sochi-Trabzon route will resume after a nine-year hiatus on May 1.
“Our work on this issue has yielded positive results, and we have reached agreements. We will sign the contracts on April 6th. We will launch a ferry for 300 people between Sochi and Trabzon,” Celebi said, Gazeta.ru reports, citing the Turkish news service Aksam.
According to him, the ferry will accommodate 200 cars, six buses, and 12 containers.
Ferries between Sochi and Trabzon ran from 1992 to 2014 once a week, with a travel time of about 12 hours.
In addition, a high-speed ship of the “Kometa” type cruised between the two cities, it went for about five hours.
