Southern Gas Corridor, green energy initiatives to take centre stage at Baku summit
The 11th Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting and 3rd Green Energy Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting will take place in Baku on April 4, marking a significant milestone in regional and global energy cooperation.
The event will bring together representatives from 24 countries, including Azerbaijan and the European Union, alongside 7 international financial institutions and 42 prominent energy companies, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The discussions will focus on the operations and future development of the Southern Gas Corridor, a key energy infrastructure project linking the Caspian region to European markets, as well as the prospects for green energy initiatives and energy corridor projects. The meetings will provide a platform for the involved parties to explore strategies for enhancing energy security, sustainability, and cooperation across Europe, Asia, and beyond.
Key meetings during the event will include ministerial sessions from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Georgia, and Bulgaria, specifically addressing the transmission and trade of green energy. In addition, an informal meeting of the Steering Committee for the Caspian-Black Sea-European Green Energy Corridor will convene to discuss the future trajectory of this critical initiative.
One of the anticipated highlights of the meeting will be the signing of new cooperation agreements in the energy sector. These agreements are expected to further strengthen the partnership between the countries and companies involved, enhancing the development of both conventional and renewable energy sources in the region.
A press conference will be held at the conclusion of the meetings, where officials will share the outcomes of the discussions and the new agreements reached during this important gathering.
The Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council Ministerial Meeting, marks its 11th anniversary this year, has been convened since February 2015.
