Spanish government to continue supplying defence materials to Ukraine
The Spanish government has confirmed its intention to persist in supplying defence materials to Ukraine, according to Defense Minister Margarita Robles.
In a statement to foreign media, Robles underscored Spain’s unwavering support for Ukraine, saying that Ukraine will always enjoy the support of Spain, Caliber.Az reports.
She emphasized the importance of the defence materials being provided, describing them as "very important" for the Ukrainian armed forces.
Regarding the recent Ukrainian military operation in Russia's Kursk region, Robles stated that there is no current data indicating that Spanish-supplied materials were used in this specific attack. However, she acknowledged that Ukraine might deploy the materials as needed. “There is no information suggesting that Spanish assistance was used in this operation,” Robles said, while also noting that Ukraine retains the discretion to utilize the defence materials in any way it deems necessary.
On May 27, a significant bilateral security agreement was signed between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. The agreement establishes a decade-long security partnership between the two nations, reinforcing their commitment to mutual defence cooperation.
In a related development, the Canadian Defence Minister also reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to supporting Ukraine. Earlier, the Canadian official announced that there are no geographic restrictions on the use of Canadian-donated tanks and armoured vehicles by Ukraine. This statement aligns with Canada’s broader support for Ukraine and underscores its readiness to assist in Ukraine’s defence efforts without limitations.
