Sputnik Azerbaijan chief editor to leave Azerbaijan as fails to extend work permit

Editor-in-Chief of the Sputnik Azerbaijan news agency, a Baku branch of the Russian media organization, Veronika Antonova-Trizno is expected to leave Azerbaijan in the coming days.

According to Oxu.Az, she was denied the issuance of permission to work within the country’s territory.

The rejection was also issued to Antonova-Trizno’s husband, the press service producer at Sputnik Azerbaijan Pavel Antonov.

The Antonovs are Belarussian citizens.

The information was confirmed on June 10 by Elnur Kalantarli, the Head of the Public Relations Department at the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan. According to him, the two persons have been denied an extension of the work permits which automatically cancels the residence permit in the country, as well.

In accordance with Article 62 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Administrative Proceedings, the decision is considered to have reached the addressee after 10 days from the date of its publication in the media.
