Tbilisi set to restore Georgia's territorial integrity peacefully
Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has said that Georgia will peacefully restore its territorial integrity.
He made the corresponding statement against the background of the 14th anniversary of the beginning of the Russian-Georgian conflict, which broke out in August 2008, according to Georgia's Interpress news agency.
"We have chosen a peaceful, reasonable policy as a way to restore territorial integrity and unify the country, and we believe that we will definitely achieve the goal - Georgia will be united!" Garibashvili wrote on Facebook.
The fighting lasted only five days, their result was the rupture of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia, as well as Moscow's recognition of the "independence" of South Ossetia and Abkhazia.
"14 years have passed since the beginning of the August 2008 war, which claimed the lives of many of our fellow citizens. For 14 years, the heart of our country - Samachablo, Tskhinvali region and Abkhazia - has been occupied by Russia.
I pay tribute to the memory of our heroic soldiers and civilians who died in the August war," he wrote.
