Top official: Iran's leadership change doesn't impact Russia relations
03 July 2024 18:44
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk stated to reporters that the recent passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and the subsequent election of a new president has no bearing on the existing plans for cooperation between Russia and Iran.
"Our plans remain intact. We foresee no unexpected developments. Iran's role as a vital transit country is especially significant, with substantial transport activities anticipated," Overchuk emphasized, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Recall that Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi passed away on May 19 due to a helicopter crash in mountainous terrain near the Azerbaijan border. Alongside Raisi, Iranian Foreign Minister Hosein Amir Abdollahian and six others aboard also lost their lives.
