Turkic states push for greater economic integration at high-level meeting
The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliyev, along with the President of the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), Baghdad Amreev, and the Fund’s Director General, Ramil Babayev, held a meeting at the newly established TIF headquarters to discuss strategies for deepening economic cooperation among Turkic nations.
The discussions focused on enhancing economic ties between OTS members and observer states, Caliber.Az reports referring to local media.
The officials emphasized the critical role of the TIF in fostering regional development, expanding trade, and facilitating collaborative investment projects across the Turkic world. Key topics included resource allocation for priority sectors, strategies for sustainable economic growth, and ways to enhance financial integration within the bloc.
OTS Secretary General Omuraliyev underscored the urgency of utilizing the fund for concrete projects, highlighting the need for swift action to finance strategic initiatives. TIF President Amreev provided an overview of the Fund’s mission, ongoing activities, and future objectives. The meeting also involved an assessment of current projects, discussions on new initiatives to address regional economic challenges, and plans to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both the OTS and TIF reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic cooperation. They pledged to collaborate closely on implementing joint initiatives aimed at boosting the economic resilience and global competitiveness of Turkic states.
The Organization of Turkic States is an intergovernmental organization that brings together Turkic-speaking nations to enhance political, economic, and cultural cooperation. It was founded in 2009 as the Turkic Council and rebranded as the OTS in 2021. The organization currently consists of five member states — Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan — while Hungary, Turkmenistan, and Northern Cyprus hold observer status.
The OTS focuses on strengthening economic ties, boosting trade and investment, and deepening regional connectivity among its members. It also aims to enhance cultural and educational exchanges, promote joint infrastructure projects, and foster greater collaboration in areas such as security and energy.
