Turkish foreign minister in Tajikistan to advance “strong and unbreakable” ties
Türkiye and Tajikistan have established long-term “strong and unbreakable” ties.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said during a visit to Dushanbe, Anadolu reports.
The Turkish foreign minister held talks with his Tajik counterpart Sirojiddin Muhriddin and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Hakan Fidan noted that he had a very productive meeting with the president of Tajikistan.
The parties are determined to develop relations at all levels and spheres based on mutual initiative and will demonstrated by the leaders of the two countries, he said.
The minister noted the need for efforts to deepen cooperation between the two countries, primarily in the areas of economics, security, education, and tourism. The diplomat said that the parties are currently holding consultations on opportunities to expand the activities of Turkish investors in Tajikistan.
The foreign minister added that during the visit, the implementation of several joint projects, as well as issues in the field of financing and investment, was discussed in detail.
Fidan noted that the parties exchanged views on removing obstacles to bilateral trade and investment. According to the diplomat, a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission is planned to be held within this framework shortly.
Fidan added that Tajikistan highly values the activities of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA).
“TIKA’s activities are highly valued in Tajikistan. Mr. President Emomali Rahman also noted this. This is a source of pride for us,” he said.
He noted that the settlement of border disputes between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan will help establish security and stability in the region.
“Türkiye maintains close cooperation with the countries of the region, especially in terms of ensuring stability here,” he noted.
He said that units of Turkish and Tajik security forces will cooperate in the fight against the activities of radical groups. According to him, an appropriate mechanism has been established between the two countries for this purpose.
“We are committed to further promoting this mechanism,” Fidan said.
Fidan added that he informed President of Tajikistan Imomali Rahmon about the plans of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to visit Tajikistan in 2024.
