Turkish president reaffirms commitment to peace in South Caucasus at Antalya Diplomacy Forum
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed Türkiye's dedication to fostering lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus, underscoring the country's proactive role in regional diplomacy.
His remarks came during the opening of the 4th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which has gained prominence as a key global event in international diplomacy Caliber.Az reports citing local media.
In his address, Erdogan reflected on the challenges facing the international system, expressing concern over its inability to address the current crises and global issues effectively. He stated, "The international system is not capable of confronting the current crises and challenges," highlighting the growing disconnect between global governance structures and the complex realities of contemporary geopolitics.
The Turkish leader went on to describe the Antalya Forum as a vital platform for dialogue, emphasizing its role in promoting diplomatic engagement over conflict. "Here we show that we stand for dialogue instead of conflict, for a fair approach instead of a show of force," Erdogan remarked, asserting that the heart of global diplomacy would beat in Antalya for the next three days.
Erdogan also stressed Türkiye's historical and territorial connection to the region, pointing to the nation's longstanding presence and commitment to regional stability. "We are not a country that remains aloof from problems," he explained. "Historically, Türkiye has been surrounded by imperialist games and tensions. We not only live in this region; it belongs to us. We have been living here for a thousand years and will continue to live," he declared, reiterating Türkiye's determination to be an active and constructive player in the South Caucasus.
As the forum progresses, Türkiye's diplomatic efforts and its vision for regional peace are expected to remain a central focus, with Erdogan positioning the country as a key mediator in resolving conflicts and promoting long-term stability in the region.
