Turkish pundit: D-8 media centre to strengthen strategic communications
The establishment of a Media Centre within the Developing-8 (D-8) group would mark a significant step toward deepening media cooperation and boosting the collective strategic communication capacity of member states, Türkiye’s Communications Directorate Strategic Communications and Crisis Management Head, Associate Professor Bora Bayraktar said.
Speaking at the D-8 Media Forum in Baku, held under the theme “Fostering dialogue, collaboration, and regional cohesion,” Bayraktar expressed appreciation to Azerbaijan for hosting the event and highlighted the importance of the country’s recent inclusion in the D-8 grouping, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He noted that the global communications landscape is evolving rapidly, with digital technologies becoming inseparable from daily life. He emphasised that ongoing global challenges—including wars, crises, and widespread uncertainty—demonstrate the growing need for communication and cooperation that extend beyond national frontiers.
Bayraktar stated that the proposed D-8 Media Centre is expected to reinforce collaboration among member countries in the media field and enhance joint capabilities in strategic communications.
He added that Türkiye is prepared to share its expertise and support international coordination in establishing the centre.
He also expressed confidence that the D-8 Media Forum would help translate the spirit of partnership and solidarity among member states into tangible progress in the fields of information and communication.
