Türkiye, Azerbaijan to have strong infrastructure connection via Zangezur corridor Transport minister says
Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has said that Türkiye and Azerbaijan will have a strong infrastructure connection via the Zangezur corridor.
“With the implementation of the Zangezur corridor, a strong infrastructure connection will be created between brotherly Azerbaijan and our country,” Uraloğlu said, Report informs.
He emphasized the strategic importance of the Zangezur corridor: “Through this corridor, direct communication will be provided both with Azerbaijan and with other Turkic republics.”
To recap, Türkiye will expand its railway network from 13,919 to 17,011 kilometres.
According to the information, these projects are nearing completion, and a roadmap for new lines with a length of 2,452 kilometres has already been determined.
Thus, among the general projects, the Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Diluju (Zangezur) railway line, which is 224 km long, is of strategic importance. There will be five stations along the entire route. Some 5.5 million passengers and 2 million tons of cargo will be transported through the railway line annually.
