Türkiye calls for rapid end as Ukraine war leaves region exhausted — senior official
Türkiye supports the swift end of the war between Russia and Ukraine, which has been ongoing for years and has exhausted the entire region, but some actors are interested in prolonging the hostilities, Fuat Oktay, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, said.
In remarks to the press in Baku, Oktay emphasised that Ankara supports a prompt halt to the fighting, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
“Ankara advocates for an immediate cessation of hostilities. The war has already entered its fifth year, and the entire region is tired of this confrontation. We wish for the war to end, but unfortunately, there are also other actors who do not want it to conclude,” Oktay stated.
He added that Türkiye intends to continue supporting efforts to advance negotiations between Kyiv and Moscow, whether through a trilateral format mediated by Washington or the Istanbul track under Ankara’s auspices.
