Türkiye commends Azerbaijan's COP29 organization Highlights key discussions on climate change

23 November 2024 17:46

Türkiye has praised Azerbaijan for the excellent organization of the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), particularly in terms of logistics and facilitating crucial negotiations.

Fatma Varank, Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Türkiye, and the country's chief negotiator at COP29, commended Azerbaijan's efforts during the conference, Caliber.Az reports via Turkish media.

In her remarks, Varank emphasized that COP29 provided an important platform for addressing global climate change issues, with a particular focus on combating global warming. She noted the significance of the wide-ranging discussions and negotiations that took place during the event.

Türkiye's participation at COP29 was notably high-level, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, ministers, MPs, officials, academics, and representatives from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in attendance. Varank highlighted that the Turkish delegation actively engaged in various discussions aimed at finding solutions to climate challenges.

Additionally, around 60 panel discussions were held at the Turkish pavilion, where Türkiye shared its national strategies and solutions for tackling climate change. The pavilion also showcased Türkiye's rich cultural heritage, including traditional arts such as ebru (the art of water surface painting) and ceramic painting, as part of its commitment to blending environmental efforts with cultural expression.
