The KISKAÇ-22 operation, led by Turkish authorities, targets individuals suspected of affiliation with the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ), a network accused of orchestrating the failed coup attempt in Türkiye in July 2016. FETÖ, led by exiled cleric Fethullah Gülen, is alleged to have infiltrated various sectors of Turkish society to undermine the Turkish government.
Since the attempted coup, Türkiye has intensified efforts to dismantle FETÖ's alleged infrastructure, conducting numerous operations to detain and prosecute individuals suspected of involvement with the organisation. Operations like KISKAÇ-22 focus on apprehending suspects across multiple provinces, seizing assets, and gathering digital evidence, including encrypted communications used by the group.
The Turkish government views FETÖ as a significant security threat and has implemented stringent measures to counter its influence and activities within the country. These efforts have included purges from public institutions, legal proceedings against suspected members, and international efforts to extradite key figures associated with the organisation.
