Türkiye favours Russia's participation at summit in Switzerland
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has said the conference on Ukraine in Switzerland could have been more effective if Russia had participated in it.
He made the remarks addressing the event in Bürgenstock, Germany, TASS reports.
"We have the Ukrainian peace plan in front of us, Russia has recently expressed some conditions. Despite the conditions that have been outlined, these are important steps in the context of where we can start moving from [on the peace settlement]. This conference may be the last opportunity to turn off the road before the bridge. And I must also emphasize that this summit could have been more result-oriented if the other side, Russia, had been here in the room,” the minister said.
Fidan is convinced that there is a serious need for a comprehensive and inclusive strategy for diplomacy.
