Türkiye honours fallen soldiers after deadly military plane accident in Georgia photo

14 November 2025 11:24

An A400M military transport plane of the Turkish Air Force transported the remains of those killed in the C-130 crash in Georgia from Tbilisi to Türkiye yesterday, on November 13.

Upon landing, the bodies were taken by hearse to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Ankara for examination and official procedures, as per Turkish media.

Afterwards, the remains were moved to the military ceremony area at Murted Air Base. Following the military ceremony, memorial prayers for the three fallen servicemen will be held at the Ahmet Hamdi Akseki Mosque in Ankara after the noon prayers. The funerals of the remaining 17 servicemen will take place in their respective hometowns.

The crash occurred on November 11, 2025, when a Turkish C-130 military transport aircraft flying from Azerbaijan to Türkiye went down in mountainous terrain near the town of Sighnaghi in Georgia. The plane was carrying 20 members of the Turkish Armed Forces, including technical service personnel, all of whom were killed.

Before departure, the aircraft had spent approximately two hours at Ganja Airport in Azerbaijan, with no recorded technical issues. Following the crash, search and recovery teams from both Türkiye and Georgia were dispatched to the site to recover wreckage and conduct investigations.

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Investigators are examining potential factors, including technical faults, weather conditions, and other possible contributing circumstances.
