Türkiye issues yellow weather alert as heavy rains trigger flooding
Türkiye has issued a yellow weather alert for 10 provinces along its Black Sea coast as meteorologists forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, raising concerns over possible flooding and landslides.
According to the Turkish Meteorological Service, severe weather conditions are expected to affect several coastal regions, with authorities warning residents to remain cautious, Azertag reports.
Officials said the risk of flash floods, landslides, and mudslides remains high in vulnerable areas. In the northern province of Samsun, local authorities reported that 12 people were hospitalised after sustaining injuries during recent flooding incidents.
Heavy rainfall also hit the central province of Kayseri, where several neighbourhoods were inundated after the city’s drainage system failed to cope with the volume of water. Floodwaters submerged roads and underpasses, while major intersections were temporarily transformed into large pools of standing water, causing significant traffic disruptions.
Provincial authorities in Kayseri urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain alert as adverse weather conditions continue.
