Türkiye says Zangezur Corridor to be completed before 2030
Türkiye’s Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu has said that construction of the Zangezur Corridor will be completed before 2030.
“Türkiye is a crucial link in the Middle Corridor,” he said, referring to the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, per CNN Türk.
“At the moment, we are unable to transport the volume of cargo we would like. However, we are increasing this capacity every day through routes via Baku, Tbilisi and the Caspian Sea. The Zangezur Corridor will make a significant contribution to expanding this throughput.”
The Zangezur Corridor project, stretching about 40–44 km, is primarily aimed at ensuring direct connectivity between mainland Azerbaijan and its exclave, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, through Armenia’s Syunik (historically known as Zangezur) region. The main goal of the project is to simplify transport links between Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, bypassing third countries, thereby increasing the efficiency and reliability of regional logistics chains.
