Türkiye has been actively addressing arms smuggling and illegal weapons production through a series of high-profile operations and legislative measures aimed at curbing organized crime and enhancing public safety. These efforts have included nationwide crackdowns targeting illegal firearms trafficking and the illicit production of weapons.
One key aspect of Türkiye’s strategy involves coordinated operations, often referred to as "Mercek" operations, which have taken place across multiple provinces. These operations target criminal networks involved in smuggling firearms and other illicit activities. The operations have led to significant seizures of unlicensed weapons, including handguns, rifles, and converted firearms.
