UAE condemns Iranian drone strikes on Azerbaijani territory
The United Arab Emirates has strongly condemned Iranian drone strikes on Azerbaijani territory, describing them as a serious escalation that threatens regional stability.
In a statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Emirates views the attacks as a dangerous development and a clear violation of state sovereignty. The ministry stated that such actions undermine efforts to reduce tensions and pose a direct threat to security and stability in the region, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The statement emphasised that the strikes represent a significant escalation that could further increase tensions and complicate ongoing de-escalation efforts.
A day earlier, the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also condemned the attack during a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
A reminder that on March 5, unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iranian territory attacked targets in Nakhchivan. One of the drones fell on the terminal building of Nakhchivan International Airport, the second - near a school building in the village of Shakarabad. As a result of the attack on the airport, four civilians were injured. The Ambassador of Iran to Azerbaijan, Mojtaba Demirchilu, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Azerbaijan stated that it reserves the right to a retaliatory strike.
