UK ambassador awards BP Azerbaijan VP, British Council head on behalf of King PHOTO

06 May 2026 21:07

UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Fergus Auld has awarded Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, BP Vice President for the Caspian region, and Nargiz Hajiyeva, British Council Director, honourary titles on behalf of King Charles III of the United Kingdom.

Auld said it was a great honour to present the awards to Aslanbayli and Hajiyeva in recognition of their contributions to strengthening relations between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

“One of the greatest privileges is to be able to tell someone that they will receive an honour from His Majesty the King. Even better is to present that award in person on behalf of His Majesty. It is a particular pleasure to present these awards to two people I deeply respect, two people who have made a huge contribution to the development of ties between the United Kingdom and Azerbaijan during my four years here, and long before me under many British ambassadors,” he noted.

In turn, Aslanbayli and Hajiyeva expressed gratitude for the recognition of their work, noting that they see the awards as an acknowledgement of the efforts of all the teams and partners they have worked with throughout their careers.

Aslanbayli was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), while Hajiyeva received the title of Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

The honourary OBE is one of the five ranks within the UK’s Order of the British Empire honours for recognising significant UK national and international contributions.
