Ukraine hits Russia's Dagestan, other regions in nighttime drone attack 33 shot down
The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) carried out a drone attack on Dagestan overnight on October 22, according to the republic’s head, Sergey Malikov.
“Enemy drones targeted one of the enterprises in the republic,” Malikov wrote on his Telegram channel, per Caliber.Az.
Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, and information regarding possible damage is still being verified. Emergency services are currently working at the scene, he added.
Malikov also reminded residents that publishing information about drone strikes, as well as the locations of Defence Ministry forces or critical infrastructure, remains prohibited in the region.
For the record, Dagestan's first notable drone encounter occurred on November 6, 2024, when a Ukrainian A-22 drone was downed over Kaspiysk, delaying Makhachkala Airport flights and targeting the Caspian Flotilla—Russia's southern naval command involved in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia assaults.
Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defence announced the interception of dozens of Ukrainian fixed-wing drones on the same night across several regions of the country.
“During the past night, air defence units destroyed and intercepted 33 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft type,” the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, eight drones were downed over the Bryansk region, four over the Sea of Azov, four over the Leningrad region, three over the Rostov region, three over the Pskov region, six over the Black Sea, two over the Novgorod region, one over the Oryol region, one over the Tver region, and one over the Tula region.
The Ministry did not report any casualties or damage resulting from the overnight drone interceptions.
