Ukrainian MP thanks Azerbaijan for helping Kherson stand against water dam disaster
A member of the Ukrainian parliament has expressed his gratitude to the state and people of Azerbaijan for the assistance provided at a time when the Kherson region faced a great tragedy.
Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine from the ruling "Servants of the People" party Pavel Pavlish, who was elected to the parliament from the Kherson region, said after the collapse of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in Kherson, more than 3,500 houses were flooded, more than 20 thousand people were damaged, and people were left homeless.
According to him, the help of Azerbaijan, other countries and volunteers was of great importance, Report writes.
Pavlish noted that there is still a lot of work to be done.
“It is true that people have been saved, but they need to be provided with housing as soon as possible. Currently, cleaning work is underway in Kherson. We need building materials and equipment to carry out construction and restoration work. We call on governments and volunteers to help us in this endeavour. The fact that people help each other allows us to look to the future with hope," he said.
