UN commends Azerbaijan’s anti-corruption efforts at key meeting in Baku
The United Nations has praised Azerbaijan’s efforts in tackling corruption during a high-level meeting held in Baku as part of the sixth plenary meeting of the Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network).
During the event, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General, Kamran Aliyev, met with Brigitte Strobel-Shaw, Head of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Caliber.Az reports.
The discussions focused on deepening international cooperation in the fight against corruption. Prosecutor General Aliyev welcomed the initiatives led by the UNODC and highlighted Azerbaijan’s positive track record and achievements in collaboration with the UN on anti-corruption measures.
He also pointed to Azerbaijan’s hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November 2024 as evidence of the country’s active role in promoting intercultural dialogue at the international level.
Brigitte Strobel-Shaw praised the strong partnership between Azerbaijan and the UNODC, commending Azerbaijan’s contribution to strengthening international legal cooperation.
The GlobE Network brings together anti-corruption enforcement agencies from across the world to foster joint action, information sharing, and strategic dialogue in combating corruption.
