Unidentified drones spotted near Kazakhstan-Russia border
Residents in western Kazakhstan have reported sightings of unidentified drones flying near the “Syrym” border crossing with Russia for two consecutive nights, raising concerns over security in the border region.
Locals in the West Kazakhstan region observed multiple drones entering the area from Russia’s Samara region, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
Eyewitnesses said as many as ten drones could be seen simultaneously flying over the border checkpoint and a nearby border outpost.
“They were flying over the border crossing and the outpost. And this isn’t the first day we’ve seen this. Our border guards don’t even know who they are or why they’re here,” one resident told local media.
Following reports circulating on social media, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan issued a statement saying no violations of Kazakhstan’s airspace had been officially recorded.
“The situation is under the control of the relevant services,” the ministry said, urging citizens to remain calm and rely only on official information sources.
