UNSC rejects statement on Lachin road due to France’s dishonest behaviour Russian Permanent Mission’s commentary

First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy has said that the statement of the UN Security Council on the Lachin road could not be adopted due to the unscrupulous actions of France, rather than because of Russia, as some Armenian Telegram channels say.

“The information about the reasons for the UN Security Council not adopting a statement for the press about the situation on the Lachin road was distorted, this false information was disseminated by some Armenian Telegram channels,” Polyanskiy said on the Telegram channel, TASS reports.

“From the very beginning, we were determined to work constructively in the context of working out a response from the Security Council. At Yerevan’s request, this process was coordinated by the French, who ignored the vast majority of our proposals, while taking into account the proposals of other members of the Security Council. Such unfair methods of Paris are obvious,” he noted.

Polyanskiy added that the Russian peacekeepers, not in words, but in deeds, are engaged in the settlement of the conflict in Karabakh, including the situation on the Lachin road.

The diplomat expressed the hope that “Armenian friends will not let themselves be drawn into unscrupulous geopolitical games to please those who do not hesitate to use any pretexts to push the fraternal peoples who lived together in the USSR and aggravate the slightest contradictions and problems”.
