US ambassador says TRIPP working groups to meet before year-end
The working groups responsible for driving forward the “Trump Route for International Prosperity and Peace” (TRIPP) initiative have been established and are expected to convene their first meetings before the end of the year, the US Ambassador to Armenia has said.
Speaking at an event hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia, Ambassador Kristina Kvien explained that Washington and Yerevan were working together to set up the structures needed to develop and implement the TRIPP programme and the related memorandums of understanding, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media.
Two intergovernmental working groups are being created to oversee the process, along with a dedicated US–Armenian body that will manage the planning and construction phase.
Kvien noted that relations between the United States and Armenia were now deeper and more robust than at any point in the past. She highlighted the launch of a strategic partnership in January 2025 as a milestone marking significant progress in the range and ambition of bilateral ties.
According to her, this progress had been achieved under the leadership of President Donald Trump, who she said had helped advance both bilateral cooperation and regional stability in ways previously considered unlikely.
The ambassador pointed to the August 8 summit hosted by President Trump, which brought together Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, describing it as a turning point that opened the way to addressing issues that had long held back regional development. She said the resulting progress was expected to benefit countries from Central Asia to Western Europe, with Armenia set to gain the most.
Kvien also reaffirmed US support for the signing and ratification of a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and indicated that Washington would continue its efforts in that direction.
As Armenia works to normalise its relations with Türkiye and Azerbaijan, the United States is prepared to help facilitate its full integration into East–West trade, she added.
