US State Secretary emphasizes efforts to achieve peace between Baku, Yerevan
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is placing special emphasis on efforts to achieve peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Joshua Huck Deputy told a reception organized by the Azerbaijani Embassy in the United States.
Addressing the reception commemorating Azerbaijan’s Independence Day on May 28 and Armed Forces Day on June 26, Huck said: "For thirty-two years, partnership relations have been established between the United States and Azerbaijan based on friendship, common interests, and mutual respect".
He emphasized the longstanding cooperation between the two countries in combating terrorism and violent extremism, as well as promoting Azerbaijani gas and oil to Western markets, according to AZERTAC.
Huck highlighted Secretary Blinken's personal commitment to fostering and developing these ties, alongside his efforts to secure a just and lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "There are currently positive developments in this direction. I think this process will soon go even further. The United States is always ready to provide support in this regard," he added.
The official reiterated the United States' steadfast support for Azerbaijan's independence, territorial integrity, and sovereignty, underscoring the significance of the US-Azerbaijan partnership.
