US strikes in southern Iran hit water infrastructure, MP says
U.S. strikes in southern Iran have disrupted drinking water supplies to around 30 settlements in Hormozgan province, an Iranian lawmaker said, describing the impact on civilian infrastructure.
Abdulkarim Hashemi Nakhl-Ebrahimi said a water treatment facility serving the western part of Jask County had been targeted, leading to supply outages across nearby villages.
“A water treatment facility responsible for supplying water to the western part of Jask County was attacked. This led to disruptions in water supply for approximately 30 villages in the area,” he said in an interview with the Tasnim news agency.
He added that while desalination plants were not completely destroyed, key pumping stations that transfer seawater to the facilities had sustained significant damage, impairing operations.
Nakhl-Ebrahimi condemned the strikes as “anti-human and inhumane in all respects” and called for symmetrical strikes against the adversary.
