US unveils head of newly launched working group for Azerbaijan-Armenia relations
The Deputy Assistant to the US Secretary of State, Sonata Coulter, has been announced to lead a newly launched Working Group that will seek to further the objectives reached on August 8 in Washington between the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the US.
This was revealed by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Allison M. Hooker in the course of her visit to Azerbaijan on November 19, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Speaking during a meeting Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, she informed the minister that the working group will be responsible for establishing the Strategic Partnership Charter between the United States and Azerbaijan.
"This initiative, combined with progress towards a full peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia, will deepen our bilateral relationship, our bilateral partnership and unlock the potential of the South Caucasus as an essential trade corridor," the Under Secretary of State said.
Hooker, who embarked on her first visit to Azerbaijan, shared with Bayramov that she was honoured to further US President Trump's historic vision for peace and prosperity in the South Caucasus.
In the course of their meeting, the officials discussed bilateral issues, ranging from trade to energy cooperation to enhancing regional connectivity and security, as well as the outcomes of the Washington summit.
