US urges citizens in Iran to stock up on essentials, prepare to leave
The United States has urged its citizens in Iran to leave the country immediately and to develop a plan for self-departure without relying on government assistance.
According to a statement from the US Embassy in Iran, Americans may face detention solely for holding a US passport, Caliber.Az reports.
The embassy also warned of potential internet outages and flight cancellations.
“If you cannot leave, find a secure location within your residence or another safe building. Have a supply of food, water, medications, and other essential items. Avoid demonstrations, keep a low profile, and stay aware of your surroundings,” the statement advised.
The US government suggested possible exit routes via overland travel through Armenia or Türkiye.
