US vows continued efforts to facilitate peace talks between Azerbaijan, Armenia

30 July 2024 10:20

The United States remains committed to fostering peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the US Department of State told a briefing.

Patel emphasized the ongoing efforts led by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

"This is the issue that both the Secretary of State and the Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations Louis Bono continue to actively pursue, but I don't have any specific news or timelines. This is something we will continue to work on," Patel stated.

The US Embassy in Baku also pointed out the frequent visits by Bono to the region, underscoring the active role the US is playing in the peace process. These visits aim to discuss and support the best ways to achieve a lasting and dignified peace between the two nations.

"Armenia and Azerbaijan continue to make significant progress toward a peace agreement. We are committed to supporting this process. The time for peace is now, and we continue working to try to reach an agreement," a statement by the embassy said.
