Uzbekistan eyeing construction, leasing terminals in Georgian ports
Uzbekistan is planning the construction and long-term lease of sea terminals, as well as warehouses in the seaports of Georgia.
Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media that a memorandum was signed during the visit of a government delegation led by Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov to Georgia.
The memorandum provides for the construction and long-term lease of sea terminals, as well as warehouses in the seaports of Georgia, cooperation in the field of civil aviation, development of road transport, joint research and application of innovations in the field of transport and infrastructure.
In 2022, the volume of export-import transportation of Uzbekistan through the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi amounted to 864,000 tons. This figure is 72 per cent more than in 2021 (503,000 tons).
