Russia won’t build "Berlin Walls", open to equal dialogue-foreign minister affirms
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reiterated that Moscow does not seek isolation or confrontation with the international community, stating that the country is open to dialogue — but only on equal and mutually respectful terms.
Speaking during a meeting with students and faculty at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Lavrov emphasized Moscow’s position on maintaining diplomatic engagement without resorting to division or ideological barriers, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
"It was a Western style to build Berlin Walls," Lavrov said, referencing historical Cold War divisions. "We do not want to build any walls. We want to work honestly."
Lavrov firmly rejected any notion that Russia intends to withdraw from the global stage or engage in retaliatory diplomacy. Instead, he called for balanced international relations based on parity and mutual respect.
"We have no desire to take revenge on anyone or vent our anger on anyone. We are not going to ignore anyone," the minister said.
