Western Azerbaijan Community opens office in Izmir
The Turkish office of the Western Azerbaijan Community has officially opened in Izmir.
At the ceremony, which was attended by Turkish officials and Azerbaijanis residing in Izmir, Asif Gurban, the local representative of the Western Azerbaijan Community, emphasized that this marks the first foreign office of the organization, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Rashad Mammadov, also addressed attendees, highlighting the double standards applied by some countries towards Azerbaijan. He strongly stated that the denial of Western Azerbaijanis' right to return to their ancestral homeland is unacceptable.
The establishment of the Western Azerbaijani Community’s office in Türkiye aims to strengthen ties among the Western Azerbaijanis living in the country, raise awareness about the history, culture, and notable figures of Western Azerbaijan, and organize efforts to work with international organizations to safeguard the rights of the more than 300,000 individuals who were deported from the region.
