Western Azerbaijan Community urges Armenia to honor peace commitments
For lasting peace to be established in the region, Armenia must address several unresolved issues, the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC) has emphasized.
WAC commented on the completion of negotiations regarding the text of the peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan, noting that while Armenia recently accepted Azerbaijan’s proposals on the two remaining provisions, this step alone is insufficient, Caliber.Az reports.
"To establish lasting peace in the region, Armenia must resolve a number of other issues, including creating conditions for the safe and dignified return of Western Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands, fulfilling commitments on unimpeded transit, removing territorial claims against Azerbaijan from its constitution and legal acts, sending an appeal to abolish the OSCE Minsk Group, recognizing its responsibility and paying compensation for the long-standing occupation of Azerbaijani lands and the violence against Azerbaijanis, eliminating all ‘institutions’ of the self-proclaimed regime within its territory, ending the glorification of war criminals, halting its militarization program, and returning the weapons acquired under it," the statement reads.
The WAC also called on the international community to press Armenia to resolve these issues, emphasizing their significance for regional stability.
