Will Azerbaijan raise funds for military and security in 2026?
A set of amendments to the draft 2026 state budget indicates that Azerbaijan could increase spending in several priority areas.
According to domestic media, the changes were outlined yesterday by Azar Amirsalanov, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship, during a session of the Milli Majlis (Parliament).
Amirsalanov said the proposal would raise allocations for defence, national security, the judiciary, law enforcement, and the prosecutor’s office by 47.8 million manats — roughly $28.1 million.
In addition, about 3 million manats ($1.8 million) are earmarked for animal vaccination and anti-epizootic measures to maintain food and agricultural security.
He further noted that 1.2 million manats ( $0.7 million) will be used to improve the organisation, material base, and technical needs of certain public institutions.
In total, the budget amendments envisage additional expenditures of 52 million manats — equivalent to around $30.6 million — financed from state budget reserves.
