President Erdogan: Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations unmatched
Relations between Türkiye and Azerbaijan are exemplary, having no analogues in the world, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said.
President Erdogan made the remarks in a press statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on September 25, according to Azertac.
“We continue strengthening these relations and cooperation in all spheres in accordance with One Nation, Two States motto. The Shusha Declaration, which I signed with my brother Ilham Aliyev, is a turning point that raises our relations to the level of allies,” President Erdogan said, emphasising that Nakhchivan has a special place in relations with Azerbaijan due to its strategic importance throughout history.
“Today Nakhchivan has enormous potential in terms of economy, transport and energy. We have the opportunity to fully realise this potential after the creation of regional transport lines. This time I am very pleased to be with you [President Ilham Aliyev] in Nakhchivan, which connects Türkiye with the Turkic world. Since my last visit in 2008, I have been proud to observe the development achieved by Nakhchivan. Today, in the centenary of Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev, who played a huge role in Nakhchivan’s ascend to current level of development, I once again revere his memory,” he added.
