Armenia can use Georgia–Türkiye railway for trade, PM says
Armenia can use the railway between Georgia and Türkiye for the export and import of goods, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated.
Pashinyan said he is pleased to announce that the Akhalkalaki (Georgia) – Kars (Turkey) railway, like the Azerbaijan railway, is now open for exports from Armenia and imports into Armenia, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“This is a major event in our country’s economic life. I thank our Turkish and Georgian partners,” Pashinyan wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, Armenia currently has rail connections via Georgian and Azerbaijani territory to Russia, as well as through Russia and Kazakhstan to China.
“Now, via the territory of Georgia and Türkiye, also with the European Union. In the near future, the opening of Armenia–Türkiye, Armenia–Azerbaijan, as well as Armenia–Iran railways via Nakhchivan is expected. We will witness these events in the near future as a result of the implementation of the ‘Trump Route’ project,” he added.
