Armenia drops passport exit stamp requirement in visa-free deal with Russia

31 July 2025 11:42

The Armenian government has approved amendments to the visa-free travel agreement with Russia, eliminating the need for an exit stamp in passports.

The decision was made during a government meeting on July 31, as reported by Armenian media, per Caliber.Az.

Previously, Armenian citizens traveling abroad were required to have their passports stamped to indicate the validity period of their stay outside the country. However, as of January 1, 2024, this requirement no longer applies, leading to its removal from the agreement’s text.

Under the existing terms of the visa-free arrangement, citizens of both Armenia and Russia are allowed to stay in each other’s countries without registration for up to 30 days, and without obtaining residence status for up to 180 days per year.
