Armenia probes high treason case as raids target opposition figure’s associate VIDEO
Armenia’s Investigative Committee has launched searches at the residence of Argnaz Manukyan, a parliamentary candidate from the “Prosperous Armenia” party and an associate of detained politician Andranik Tevanyan, as part of a widening investigation into alleged espionage and high treason.
The operation is linked to a criminal case in which Tevanyan is accused of passing classified information to the director of the “Russia–Caucasus” centre, reportedly in exchange for $622,000, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
Investigators allege the material involved relates to closed parliamentary hearings held in April 2024 on the delimitation process along the Armenia–Azerbaijan border.
Tevanyan, who has not held a parliamentary mandate since 2023, was previously arrested in connection with the same case.
Local reports have also suggested that Manukyan may have been the source of the information allegedly passed on by Tevanyan, though authorities have not publicly confirmed this claim.
