Armenia renews shelling of Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan region Statement by Ministry of Defence
The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry has said that the Armenian armed forces shelled the Azerbaijani army positions in Nakhchivan.
“On June 16, at 09:15, units of the Armenian armed forces, using small arms, fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani army located in the direction of the Heydarabad settlement of the Sadarak region of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic from their positions in the direction of the Arazdayan settlement of the Vedi region,” the ministry said in a statement, according to Caliber.Az.
"The units of the Azerbaijani army are taking retaliatory measures," the statement added.
Earlier, Armenian armed forces from their positions located in the direction of the settlement of Goysu of the Basarkechar region fired several times at the positions of the Azerbaijani army located in the direction of the settlement of Galakend of the Gadabay region.
In addition, on June 16, from 00:50 to 04:10, members of illegal Armenian armed groups in the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily deployed, fired at the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the Shusha region.
Moreover, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry reported that starting at 10:00 on June 14, the Armenian Armed Forces units from positions located in the direction of the Vedi district’s Arazdayan village resumed intensive shelling of Azerbaijani army positions located in the direction of the Sadarak district’s Heydarabad settlement in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, using weapons of various calibres.
