Armenia’s PM plans rotation of female MPs ahead of 2026 elections
28 November 2025 10:58
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is reportedly planning a rotation of female members within the ruling party’s parliamentary faction ahead of next year’s elections.
According to Caliber.Az, citing the newspaper Hraparak, the party’s forthcoming candidate list will give winnable positions to members of the “Learning is Trendy" initiative, a movement launched by Pashinyan’s wife, Anna Akopyan.
Current female deputies are expected to be placed at the lower end of the list, the report adds. The reasons behind the decision have not been disclosed, although the publication notes a perceived shortage of qualified female candidates within the ruling party.
Armenia is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections in June 2026.
