Armenian ex-president's bloc loses footing as key members resign seats
The Armenia bloc led by former President Robert Kocharyan has lost two of its parliamentary members in quick succession.
Journalist Hayk Khalatyan, who had been assigned a seat on the party list, announced his resignation, according to Armenian media cited by Caliber.Az.
In a social media statement, Khalatyan explained, “After much deliberation, I have decided to resign my seat and continue my work in the media as an editor and journalist.” He emphasised that he remains a supporter of the bloc and expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him.
In a separate development, Aregnaz Manukyan, another MP from the opposition Armenia bloc, also stepped down. Manukyan said her decision was motivated by her joining the "Mother Armenia" political movement led by Andranik Tevanyan, which plans to establish a new party.
