Armenian ex-president's son to join parliament's standing committee on foreign relations

18 January 2024 13:02

Levon Kocharyan, son of Armenia's ex-president, will be included in the parliament's standing committee on foreign relations, MP Aghnessa Khamoyan told Armenian media.

"Levon Kocharyan will be part of the permanent committee. Every MP should be a member of some committee," Khamoyan was quoted as saying, per Caliber.Az.

Kocharyan replaced Aspram Krpeyan, an MP from the same faction, who was re-assigned to the Health Committee. According to Khamoyan, such changes are practised in the faction and there is nothing extraordinary about it.

Let's recall that Levon Kocharyan, son of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, took the oath and officially became a deputy of the opposition faction "Armenia" on November 14. He received the parliamentary mandate while in pre-trial detention on charges of beating up policemen and was released from detention after receiving the mandate.
