Armenian ex-security chief resigns from his parliamentary seat
The Head of the parliamentary faction of the “I have Honour” bloc, the Head of the Homeland party, and the former Director of the Armenian National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan has said that he applied for the resignation from the lawmaker mandate in compliance with the legislative procedure.
“For many of you, this decision of mine did not come as a surprise․ The Council of the Homeland party decided to continue its activities outside the Parliament. By the decision of the party, the “I have the Honor” bloc created by us with the Republican Party of Armenia (the party’s head is Serzh Sargsyan) ceases its activity de jure and de facto, within which we have travelled a relatively short but eventful path with our colleagues and, I am sure that we will still pass, for the sake of saving the country, and in the future – for the sake of improving and strengthening our statehood,” Vanetsyan said Caliber.Az informs, citing Armenian media.
“I want to assure you that the decision to resign my mandate and continue the struggle of the Homeland party outside the parliament is exclusively our choice, and they can in no way be a deterrent or guiding factor for our colleagues in the ‘I have the Honour’ faction," he added.
